Why choose a quartz watch?

A quartz watch is driven by a battery and a tiny quartz crystal that vibrates at a precise frequency. The result is a watch that is typically accurate to within a few seconds a week, keeps running when you leave it in a drawer, and needs little more than a battery change every few years.
