An automatic movement is a living, breathing mechanical heart on your wrist. To keep it ticking beautifully for years, it requires a touch of care.
1. Keep it wound
If you don't wear it daily, invest in a watch winder or manually wind it every couple of days to keep the lubricants flowing and prevent the movement from seizing.
2. Avoid magnets
Keep your timepiece away from speakers, laptops, and strong magnetic fields which can magnetize the hairspring and cause the watch to run extremely fast.
3. Check the crown
Always ensure the crown is screwed down tight before exposing the watch to water. Even water-resistant watches can leak if the crown is left open.
